Where Does Young Thug Currently Rank In Hip-Hop

First things first, let me just say that Young Thug has never missed yet. Since the release of Barter 6, Thugger has not released a bad project. The man has pure talent. His versatility and cadence on every beat is just ridiculous. On top of that, his ability to change pitch and tone is really what makes him stand out. These features are what allows him to make so much music without replicating the same sound.

Today (8/24) Thug just released his third project of the year On The Rvn.  And if you haven’t heard it yet, it’s GREAT! Honestly it might be the best out of the three. The special part about this projecting being great is that he is 3/3 on the year because his last two projects were great.  Both Hear No Evil and Slime Language were fire. Adding On The Run into the mix just shows how much talent Thug actually has.

So where does he rank? I mean between his pure talent and relentless hustle to put out music, he HAS TO BE in the top 3 out right now. Obviously Drake is number 1, but there is no other case for anyone out performing Thugger right now. He really hasn’t dropped a bad project since he blew up.

Let’s take a look:

  • Barter 6
  • Slime Season (1-3)
  • Im Up
  • Jeffery
  • Beautiful Thugger Girls
  • Young Martha (w/ Dj Carnage)
  • Super Slimey (w/ Future)
  • Hear No Evil
  • Slime Language
  • On The Rvn

So for this very reason, I have no choice but to have Thug in the top 3 out right now. His fan base is crazy, he always does numbers, and continues to make music nonstop. It would be foolish to say otherwise. It feels kind of weird saying this but he is the Lil Wayne of the new generation. Everything Weezy did, Thug is doing in the same way. The features, the mixtapes, the albums, putting on new artists… he’s just following in the footsteps of the GOAT and it’s paying off.
